There always seems to be something going on in Preston Park! No matter what day of the week, or time of day, you are guaranteed to see the park awash with runners, dog walkers, and families picnicking…and so it is easy to see why buyers and renters are choosing to set up home here.
The properties close to the park tend to be larger, set on wide streets with plenty of parking, and often have great sized back gardens for children to enjoy. It is hardly surprising then, that this area has some of the highest property prices (per square meter) in Brighton. However, ‘bargain’ properties in this area are often seen online, and whilst they may require a fair amount of renovation, you could end up with a fabulous property for a fraction of what you would pay on a completed project.
It is also worth noting, that whilst many people absolutely love the quiet and relaxed vibes of this area, it doesn’t suit everyone…especially those who love the hustle and bustle. The café culture here is slightly more directed at families and friendly brunches whilst the children play, as opposed to grabbing a quick coffee and bite with friends before heading to lectures, and this suits many people down to the ground.
Every year, Preston Park holds the Gay Pride event and welcomes over 200,000 people to enjoy a weekend of live music, world class performers (such as Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Years and Years), and family friendly activities, so really does serve up something for everyone. If you live close enough to the park, you will probably be able to enjoy the music and atmosphere without leaving the comfort of your own home!
Preston Park is a brilliant location for commuters as it is just towards the outskirts of the city with easy access to the A23 towards London, and with ample on street parking, it is a great choice for those needing to hop in the car and go.
Whilst this area is not too close to the seafront, it is extremely easy to hop on the bus and be in the heart of the city within 10 minutes, and so is a perfect spot for people who like the option to dip in and out of the hustle and bustle.
